Student Accommodation - Lenton, Nottingham.

Site-wide strategic design including refurbishment of existing student accommodation blocks, additional studio accommodation and a new standalone communal amenity facility constructed from disused 35ft shipping containers.

‘The Dock’ features two communal amenity spaces comprising social gaming, TV lounge, co-working and private study facilities, with a large communal roof terrace above for outdoor eating, drinking and managed social events. The building occupies a vacant car park space within the heart of the accommodation complex and is designed to become a new social hub for the student community, promoting interaction and enhancing student well-being.

Arranged in a staggered format, with all mechanical fixings and pre-existing surface dents on full display, the building purposefully celebrates its previous use as four individual shipping containers. A bespoke surface artwork by MOYO Creative references international maritime alphabet flags and the shipping coordinates of the site.
